We have all gone through it, our car is making an 'unknown' noise and it is driving us nuts! However, we don't want to take it to the mechanic just yet, because we are hoping that it goes away as fast as it came.
The problem is, if we wait too long, it can do a lot more damage and cost us more in the long run.
Here is a list of a few 'noise' problems
Squeal--
This can be a loose or stretched power steering, fan or air conditioning belt.
It may be that lubricant is needed.

Check the wheel covers first, a stone may be the culprit
Next, check the fan blade and make sure that it isn't bent
You may have low engine oil
A valve lifter amy be the problem
Screeeech!
This kind of sound is usually caused by motion and is usually connected with the brakes, brake shoes or rotors. Get it checked!
Rumble Rumble
Most likely it is a defective exhaust pipe and could get louder as time goes on
This may also be the universal joint and isn't anything to ignore
Ping Ping
This could be a high pitched metallic sound and may be caused from using the wrong octane of fuel. Check your owners manual to make sure that you are using the correct kind
Knock
Worn Crankshaft
Rod Bearings going bad- check it immediately
transmission torque converter
Clunk Clunk Clunk
A faulty shock absorber
loose tailpite or muffler
