Cookie Jar game (Counting)
Make round pieces of brown paper with a number from 1-10 on one side.
In the cookie jar, we have 10 COOKIES!
As the child turns over the 'paper cookie', they have to count out how many cookies they need to take out of the cookie jar.
*hint; save the cookies for a milk break; one in the morning and one in the afternoon or let Dad eat them…..
When to play; during the time mom washes dishes or cooks in the kitchen or during a break
Throw in the Towel (Following Rules)
Everyone has to make faces and stand in silly positions. When MOM throws in the towel, they have to freeze. They will be giggling and so will you and cooking goes a lot faster.
Hold the Beans (Subtracting)
Start out with 10 beans in a bowl. Take out some beans; show the other player how many you took. Put your hands behind your back and put some of the beans in the other hand. Then, show the player (1) one hand and let them count how many beans there are. They now have to tell you how many beans are in your other hand.
Where Is It (Identification)
You know that you have certain things that you want to throw out, so why not make a game and have the kids help. Name something that you need; “my blue slippers” and have a bag ready for the child to throw them into. They can do this while you are dusting or cleaning the bathroom.
You can make up your games as you go along.
