Money Smart

MoneySmart Week WisconsinSM is a creation of the Governor's Council on Financial Literacy, a council created by Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle to help him improve financial literacy in Wisconsin

Many Wisconsin families— but particularly low and moderate-income ones—struggle to deal effectively with the complex range of choices they encounter in the financial services markets. Families that lack financial assets have little ability to build wealth due to lack of knowledge of some of the programs that are available. Surveys also show that youth lack basic financial skills and knowledge that will help them later in life.

During Money Smart Week (October 10-17, 2009) in the Sheboygan, Wisconsin area, will have a number of presentations, to help make people aware of financial options open to them. Presentations on subjects such as; Stretching Your Food Dollar, Organizing Your Home, Income Tax Strategies, How to Build and Improve a Credit Score are only a few of the ones you won't want to miss.

If you think that this may not be something that you need personally, attend the presentations that are of interest to you anyway. It could be that the knowledge that you attain may help a family member, coworker or neighbor. Policies and laws change all the time and you will be the one with the updated information because you are Money Smart!

Check the state website at http://www.moneysmartwi.org for all of the listings, times and dates for in your area of Wisconsin.
